Postdoctoral position at Bode Lab, University of California

Passionate about discovering how milk bioactives shape intestinal cell biology, physiology, and pathology?

A postdoctoral position is available immediately with the Bode lab at the University of California, San Diego. The cross-disciplinary research program aims to better understand how various human milk bioactives – either alone or in concert with microbes - impact intestinal function and physiology with the ultimate goal of improving the health and development of infants as well as people of all ages. The postdoctoral fellow will use complex cross-foster approaches with wild type, knockout, and transgenic mice to discover how milk components affect immediate and long-term offspring health and development.

This new postdoctoral position is open to applicants with extensive knowledge in mouse physiology, pathology, and development as well as extensive hands-on experience working with mice and various mouse models. Preference will be given to graduates with a strong history of research in current cellular, molecular and biochemical techniques, including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, RNAseq/qPCR, Western blotting, etc. Experience with 2D and 3D organoid cell and tissue culture is a plus.

Successful candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic team, possess strong oral and written communication skills in English, a highly collaborative spirit, and a strong publication record. Recent graduates from GI physiology and translational science fields may be particularly suited for this opportunity.

With UC San Diego’s rich interactive resources, embedded in the La Jolla Mesa’s broad scientific communities spanning numerous private research institutes and biotech/pharma companies, the environment for postdoctoral training is unparalleled. Our labs are housed in a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility with access to many core services and endless opportunities for collaboration and breakthrough discoveries.

Inquiries and Applications including a curriculum vitae, brief statement summarizing past accomplishments and future research interests as well as contact information for two references should be sent to Dr. Lars Bode at lbode@health.ucsd.edu.
